Life at the end of the road

A terrible night :-(

Filed under: daily doings, life off grid, Trucks and plant — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 7:28 am

Almost eight am and that’s me not long out of me bed, with the wee dug still curled up on the quilt. Despite being tired after a hard day shifting rock we both had a very restless night, wee dog wanting out in the middle of it and me making cocoa and eating a banana. Me dear old Mammy used to swear by warm milk and a banana to aid sleep, perhaps it does cos I did seem to grab a few hours kip later. It must have been pretty wild through much of it too cos I could hear the wind and rain through the triple glazing, which with my defective lug holes is saying something.

By rights I should have slept like a log cos it had been a pretty physical day followed by an excellent ham and mushroom casserole. The moon was a waxing crescent so I cannae use a full one an as an excuse and I’ve little in life to worry about, well, apart from my Land Rover having been away for eighteen months and little sign of it being returned but I never even thought about that once last night Smile Makes a change right enough but no, I can’t even blame the clown’s at Tayside Land Rover who seem to have stopped answering the phone now Sad smile

Hallaig’s back

The good ship Hallaig finally arrived home yesterday after what could only have been a very wobbly trip up from Craignure on Mull. Must have been pretty scabby around Ardnamurchan point for the boys Smile I did drive down to the south end on an errand last night, arriving just after six with Loch Linnhe tied up and Hallaig just departing Raasay on the last sailing. I would have taken pictures but it was pure pishing down and I wasn’t getting out of the car for anything Smile

Anyway, it’s about time for ‘more of the same’, well apart from replacing my injector ‘leak off’ pipes with some German ones I got in Inverness yesterday Smile

That was before I filled up me Dumper with WHITE diesel Sad smile cos the boodly oil depot forgot to fill my bowser when they came over recently.

Oh well, time to put on the oilskins, it’s boodly pishing down now, well at least I can check to see if my drain is working hey Smile

  1. I suppose when you switch the dumper off and get down to level the stones you must think “all Callum had was a wheelbarrow and shovel”

    • Just think what he could have done with ‘Calum the Kubota’ Kev 🙂

      • Probably would have had ‘the road to the isles’ upgraded earlier.

  2. Blimey has it been 18 months already? I think a visit in person is in order! It took me two days to remove, rebuild and replace the bulkhead on the 90 and this weekend I replaced the rear third of my step brothers 90’s chassis with him. Of course my own 110 is still in bits but I’m nearly ready to put it all back together now … no I swear it’s true this time.

  3. If Landrover is with Tayside LR Limited it looks like that company is about to be dissolved.
