Rum in the sun :-)

Hmmmmmmmm, perhaps I should just change that to ‘Rum in the rain’ Smile for it’s just started lashing down here at Eden Not that that is likely to put a damper on things, we are just ‘chillin’ in the caravan anyway and it will perhaps ‘clear the air’ cos it’s been roasting here. We had a pure mad thunderstorm and downpour yesterday too but that soon passed by and an hour or two later you’d never have known any different.

So, it’s ‘day three’ now at this cracking ‘wee festie’ in the Borders and it will certainly be on our ‘to do’ list for next year. To be honest, we only came here cos we couldnae get tickets for our usual venue of choice Belladrum, which seems to sell out earlier each year. We love Belladrum cos it’s friendly, safe and almost on our doorstep but Eden has the same qualities with only a fraction of the capacity at 3000 per day as opposed to Bella’s 16.5K. This not only means that there’s less queueing at the toilets but it also means you can actually use the phone and Internet.

Feck me, it’s really pishing down now!!!!! Still, XC says it’s gonna clear up and the sky would tend to support that premise so we aint worried.

Highlights so far

The only downside I can see to this is the epic drive sowf, at the best part of 300miles it’s a lot more of an effort to get here than Bella, specially if like us you have Bruce directing you Smile Bruce being our Australian ‘pratnav’ guide. My old Tom Tom pratnav died recently so I got me Tom Tom’s latest equivalent (read that as cheapest option). Now the old one had a nice sensible guy ordering us about called Sean but we opted for the Antipodean in this one and called him Bruce, well you would wouldn’t you! Now I gotta say that Bruce is hilarious and straight to the point, like any Foster drinking ‘Ozzie’ he don’t mince his words. You set Bruce for Girvan and once you arrive he says, ‘park up’ wind up the windows and head down to the beach Smile I kid you not.

Anyways, having spent the night at Girvan at MiL’s wee hoose on Wednesday we set Bruce to take us to Eden on Thursday. Big mistake, we should have just looked at a map and ignored the Tom Tom version of Crocodile Dundee. I mean it wasn’t actually Bruce’s fault, I set him at Girvan and he told me that it was 75miles to Eden and a couple of hours later we still had 70 miles to drive Smile You could not make it up really, we got to a place called Daily only to be sent on a diversion due to a scheduled road closure. Trouble was that that route took us via an unscheduled road closure at Newton Stewart and Bruce got totally confused, sending us down a single track dead end road then having the cheek to tell us to “sack the back seat drivers”. Honestly, you couldn’t make it up Smile

In the end ‘darling wife’ stopped at a shop in Straiton and got directions, so much for technology Smile It may have been a bit longwinded getting here but the roads were deserted and the tour around this beautiful part of Scotland’s borders awesome.

The arrival at the festival site was drama free and we were soon ensconced on a nice well drained  pitch by helpful staff.

And it wasn’t long until we were all in the ‘festival spirit’ Smile

Thursday’s highlight without a doubt being the one and only Peatbog Faeries who delivered a ‘banging set’ that would have put the hardest of techno DJ’s to shame.

Sadly I have no actual evidence of this on account of my lack of camera or phone Sad smile I do have me iPad here but it’s a ‘little on the large size’ for sticking down me trousers Smile

Sure, we have our own we solar powered power station in the boot of the Subaru complete with Victron 300W inverter, 80W solar panel and redundant UPS batteries but me SD car reader is feckered and my phone US Sad smile
