A sign of the times :-)

Just after 20:00 now and it’s almost dark, though less than ten minutes ago there was a pretty spectacular sunset, or at least the remains of one.

Hmmmmm, almost 22:00 now, I got distracted for a couple of hours there trying to find some old photographs of that interesting building that dominates my view. I’m sure my mate said it had been a bank at one time, but then perhaps he said Co Op, who knows my memory and hearing are both rubbish Smile

Anyway, as I’ve been doing a rather unexciting job for most of the day, that’ll be boring to you, me I found it quite enlightening as I ‘assisted’ John from Ferguson’s in doing the ‘signage’.

003

This will be the million and one signs that we’re required to put up these days that no one takes a blind bit of notice of because they’ve gone ‘sign blind’ Smile

002

It was ‘great craic’ for John has been in the shipbuilding industry since leaving school and he’s only 18 months off retirement so I had the complete history of Lower Clyde shipbuilding as we went about our work.

Whilst we were busy telling then general public not to throw rubbish over the side, stop smoking, keep clear of propellers, keep out and not light fires the ‘insulators’ from Ticon were lining our engine room with perforated sheet metal.

The river itself had a few interesting ships on today

 004

a 1985 super yacht called ‘Lady Sandals’ glided past our berth  http://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/details/2125 as did a heavy lift cargo ship called

something unpronounceable. Whatever her name she went up the river a couple of days ago full and was now heading down empty.

Interesting pictures and videos

Having little else to show for the day, and having been sent some great pictures and videos i thought I’d share them with you.
