Life at the end of the road

Just a few lines :-)

I was going to head off to bed right now, it’s only 21:00, just been in the house over an hour, demolished a chicken curry and am half way through sharing a lager shandy with wife and child Smile It’s been a busy wet and mainly miserable day on the ferry but completely different up here, wifey said it didn’t start raining until 15:30 and even then it was just drizzle. By comparison we’ve had oilskins on most of the day due to heavy showers and my feet were soaked, necessitating regular rotation of warm socks from on top of the port generator Smile

Leaving home this morning gave no clue as to what lay ahead further south, indeed it was a beautiful both here and over on Skye with the early morning sun bouncing off the Trotternish Ridge.

And daft young deer bouncing ‘over the purple moor’ Smile

Friday, as usual was a mass exodus amplified by an ‘ambulance run’ one that had us turning back to Sconser whilst half way over to Raasay.

Mixed in with, and adding to the busy deck was ‘Craig’s forklift’ It’s probably not Craig’s and is a little larger than your average forklift but this Manitou telehandler and its driver have almost single headedly rebuilt Raasay House Smile OK, that’s a little exaggeration and disrespectful to the many craftsmen that did and the manager that organized it, but!!! The last crowd had a tower crane, a mobile crane and a forklift too and still managed to make a mess Smile  Mansell Construction http://www.constructingcommunities.com/Home.aspx did it all with this and the site is always tidy Smile

  1. Funny how the weather can be so different only a matter of a mile apart, the thunder storms of late here at http://thepeoplesrepublicofnorthumbria.wordpress.com/ have had lightening dancing all around us with flash floods and debris all around. Yet this little enclave has had nought but showers..
