Life at the end of the road

It’s just not going to happen :-(

Filed under: daily doings, life off grid — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 10:10 pm

I’m really sorry peeps, I’m way behind on the posting front but it’s just me and the ‘wee dug’ holding the fort and things have been quite hectic. Well after 22:30 now on a Tuesday night and I’ve just finished my fresh haddock and chips. It was going to be boiled potatoes, peas and a white sauce but the generator came on so I flashed up the oven instead. Which reminds me, I might as well put a wash on, checked the water tank this morning and it is at last filling up Smile

024

When I dipped it this morning it had only risen 1” overnight but it’s a start, yesterday it was at that screw and tonight it was as high again. With any luck I’ll be able to start bathing again shortly Smile

Monday

By  a miracle I managed to get the Dude to school after feeding everyone on a damp midge infested morning

001

that would not have seen much silage made and certainly no hay. It seems that we are at last reverting back to regular west coast summer weather of sunshine, showers and the dreaded midge Sad smile

Once I’d deposited our son on the 7:55 ferry it was back up the road to the croft to do some very serious and important work on my caravan Smile

007

I know, I know, this is really sad, and I certainly would not have chosen to put gold ‘go faster stripes’ on my forty year old http://www.thomson-caravans.co.uk/index.htm Thomson Glenelg. However they were already there, I was just replacing them, or at least I was until the rain came on again.

005

Mind you, we were certainly needing it, every day I arose to yet more parched grass, dead bracken and early signs of autumn hues due to the lack of water.

011

The rain drove me over to Torran to finish off some work at the schoolhouse there,

022

fitting another inverter as a ‘backup’ to supplement the Studer C2324.

However, as I said in the title ‘it’s just not going to happen’ finishing this post that is, for it’s after 23:00 and I need my bed.

  1. Hi Paul
I’m hoping to get over tomorrow till Friday CamPing with a couple of friends. I know it’s short notice. Was wondering I could pop by Thursday afternoon to see Ellie Heaste? Hope you and all yours are well. Stevie

  5. Paul, at least all the egg boxes next to the inverters proves you’re doing your bit for the Arnish Egg Company

    • Aye Caz, the Arnish egg lady was very pleased with my efforts and put 10 dozen eggs into the shop yesterday 🙂
