Summer winter summer :-)

Filed under: daily doings, stonework — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 10:20 pm

OK, I know this is going to be rubbish but I’ve been a little preoccupied of late with hens and houses so it’s the best I can do. I know I managed a few lines this morning about the wee hoose going on the market at last last but serious blogging, waffling and general nonsense from the ‘accidental crofter’ has been a little lacking of late. So for that I’m sorry, I’m sorry also for not replying individually to all the recent comments but it’s just been a little nuts of late.

I think all that sun, heat and paint fumes last week went to my head and the mad rush to get the house looking fit for sale left me a little dazed. I seem to recall that I even came indoors on Sunday and started plonking away on here instead of working outside, very strange 🙂 Anyway, after that it was over to Torran for dinner with our friends 🙂

No, not here, this is the old ‘mission house’ that we walked past on the way there 🙂

Awesome stonework hey, just check out that Torridonian sand stone, basalt and gneiss 🙂

Not that we actually walked all the way, we took the quad as far as here, not because I’m lazy but because I’d to pick up a trailer from here

Well you’ll just have to ‘zoom out’ to find it 🙂

Once there, we laid into the red wine and roast beef whilst the boys went off camping,

being ‘responsible adults’ we ensured that they were well wrapped up and had enough matches and firelights to start a reasonable sized forest fire 🙂

We’d had an early dinner in anticipation of a busy day on Monday

with piglets to take to Portnalong

and a boar to take to Staffin.

Rocky was going to Dave and Sarah’s at to service the two fine Tamworth gilts that they’d recently acquired.

020412 015

Rocky  was only too pleased to meet with his two new girlfriends and we were only too happy to depart with yet another hen house for the ‘Arnish Egg’ enterprise that wifey was embarking upon 🙂

We also got a chance to meet with Shona, our most contrary sow sow that Dave and Sarah had purchased off us last year, just around this time if I remember rightly.

 020412 016

Since then she’s produced two fine litters from our most laid back Tamworth boar Rocky who is available for hire.

The lovely spring like weather started to go a little ‘pear shaped’ after that and by the time we arrived home at Arnish with Dave’s trailer, half a ton of pig feed and a hen house it was pishing down 😦 Everything unloaded, pigs fed and dinner had I turned in early. It had been a long day  and once more it would be an early start.

020412 018

The ice that met me in the pigs troughs and the snow on the Storr was not what I expected on Tuesday morning 😦

020412 019

Sure enough, the ‘lambing snow’ had arrived, as it does every year, just when you think it’s all over and the first crop of spring lambs are due.

020412 020

Anyway, Tuesday saw me once more at my parents house on the mainland where I was once more ‘worn out’ by the octogenarian that is my father 🙂 as he took me, Molly and his own dogs out for a ‘wee walk’ 🙂

That was about it really, I let my ‘back to back’ away and started back at work in earnest today, the wintery start gave way to a summery afternoon and now I’m off to bed 🙂

I know, it’s not great but there’s a lot going on and I’m ‘fecked’ 😦

Offers over £170K :-)

Filed under: Croft house for sale — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 5:12 am

It’s been a while I know, far too long in fact but I’ve simply just not had the time. It has in short been pretty manic since I left you on Sunday afternoon on what was a beautiful spring afternoon. Since then I’ve been running around like the proverbial fly with the ‘blue bottom’ or sleeping 🙂 And to be honest I’d be sleeping right now where it not for the fact that it’s 5:30 am on a Wednesday and I’ve to be setting off for the Loch Striven shortly, only seven or so hours since I left her:-( but more of that later.

The only reason that I’m actually plonking away on here at all and not shaving, dressing, raiding the fridge and generally getting my act together for a ‘week before the mast’ is that our beautiful ‘wee hoose’ is at last officially on the market . The Isle of Skye Estate Agency having done such a good job on the brochure that we’re now having second thoughts about moving out 🙂
