Life at the end of the road

Just dipping my toe in :-)

This is going to be pretty lame tonight I’m afraid as it’s already 20:35 and I’m ready for my bed, three days at a festival is far too much for an old duffer like me 🙂

The first full day at work today started off pretty miserable and stayed that way for a good part of it, the mad stream of cars brought over to Raasay yesterday by the sunshine had dried up to a trickle 😦

Late afternoon and early evening however saw it drying up and the sun coming out and by the time I was driving home towards Holoman I felt inspired enough to break out the long redundant camera 🙂

The now green slopes of Glamaig and Manitoba looking very different from the rock and crag of the north end.

The ruins of North Arnish looking very different to the tastefully restored alms houses at Oscaig, though it was not that long ago that they were in the same state 🙂

Once home I settled down to the first meal that I’ve really enjoyed and looked forward to since Friday. The weekends diet of junk food and alcohol having completely destroyed my normally insatiable appetite 🙂

Though after a nice plate of ‘tatties and mince’ I was in much better form and went to have a look at one of next winters meals that was marauding on the croft 🙂

He’s going to have a fine set of ‘handle bars’ once that velvet comes off 🙂

Just look at the ticks on him 😦

Anyway, that’s it, it’s 21:15 and I’m going to bed, not only is it work tomorrow but it’s the official opening and handover of the new playground shelter for the Raasay primary school at 14:00.

All are welcome and there will be refreshments 🙂

  1. Hi Paul

We went to the shelter opening and enjoyed it – what a great builing! The Ronja Pioneer has just gone past Eyre Point, rocking a slow yacht as it went Walked up through the forestry the other day to see the clearings – what a change! Some seriously good kit up there dealing with the trees – fascinating to watch.

    Back home on Saturday, reluctantly.

    Cheers

Interesting pics of the car parking problems at Sconser even before the school holiday season kicks in properly or work re-starts on Raasay House. Without giving the game away, I’d be very surprised now if you see any works starting at the car park this year.
