Raasay’s first Ferrari ???

Filed under: daily doings — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 11:01 pm

Right guys, this is going to be rubbish because it’s 22:30 and I’m just in the house 🙂 A good deal of the day was spent in Portree getting feed, actually only a couple of hours was spent in Skye’s metropolis but by the time you’ve driven there and back most of the day has passed 😦 After a mad dash round we managed to catch the 11:30 ferry along with this beauty.

A Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dino_%28automobile%29 that at around 1979 0r 1980 vintage was even older than my Land Rover.

Not really much use for hauling pigs or a caravan but you’ve got to admit it is a fine looking beast, of course being half Italian I’d say that anyway 🙂

We’ve had quite a few Porsche’s on Raasay and even a Maserati  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maserati_GranTurismo but I think that this is the first Ferrari 🙂

Once back home and the feed unloaded Molly and I went for a run along to Torran to check the hydro turbine there and then a wander through the woods looking for mushrooms.

We didn’t actually find any, well at least no edible ones but we did have a good time grubbing about the woods and shore. This is the end of the path from South Arnish to the shore in Loch Arnish, at one time nets would be taken down to boats here and fish taken back for salting.

Not a great picture but just look at the birch trees on the left that have been scorched by the wind rain and sun, the aspen on the right is obviously much hardier.

We also went up to the new house/shed site to have a look see,

again it was well burnt.

Whilst up there we had a good view of some kayakers that had just made camp on ‘Calum’s road’ 🙂

Then I spent a few hours getting caravan and Landy ready for http://www.rockness.co.uk/

I know, it’s cr4p but I’ve a house full of people and I’m knackered 😦

  1. Hi Paul,
Have a great time at Rockness
We’re off to Lucca. after work tomorrow, not to far from your old home village of many years ago.
Staying with Anna at http://www.bedandbreakfastevelina who was born in Italy moved to Ireland when she was 3 and then moved back when she was 18 to live with her Grannie in the centre of Lucca.
May even see the occassional Ferrari, but not such a beaut as the Raasay GT308

  2. It may look very much like our Tipi tent on Calums road, but we aren’t those kayakers (this time) I can assure you, Paul 😉
Anyway, we would camp on Fladda or in an emergency next to your House…..

    Regards,

    Leonard

    • Morning Lochedge,

I try very hard to keep up with the correct nomenclature 🙂 being a diver I’m sick of hearing about ‘oxygen tanks’ 🙂
