I think they’re going to be trouble

Sunday already so my turn to feed everyone

Breakfast!

Breakfast!

Since I last fed evertone on Tuesday there’s been a significant change in the feeding arrangements, usually the hens wait around the back of the house to be fed and the sheep hang around here which is a good distance away. As soon as I put their food out they wolf it down and run round to steal the hens. Looks like the hens have sussed it out and were getting their own back!

I fed Braken just outside her ark then went in to have a good look at her less than day old litter, there might only be 5 but they’re all strapping lads and are full of mischief already. Once I’d done the rounds, cleaned out the filter on the hydro turbine and changed Shona’s bedding I headed for work on a fine spring morning, or at least it felt like spring. The hawthorn leaves were well out, wifey spotted the first frog spawn, I saw 17 lapwings at Glam and once through the village I saw this fine buzzard on a strainer post.

Shortly after I arrived at the Loch Striven for a nice short easy day doing a bit of routine weekly maintainance  in the morning a bit of Land Rover engine polishing at lunch time 🙂

The 2.5 turbo diesel engine is regarded by some ( quite rightly ) as Land Rovers lame duck but this one has a full service history and has never been abused so I’m hoping for a good few years out of it yet. I change the oil every 3000 miles and keep meticulous records of everything done to the ‘Old Girl’  I know it’s quite sad really but she came off the production line in  Solihull 23 years ago in May just as the Loch Striven was being launched on the Humber and I’m quite fond of them both 🙂

The afternoon was spent messing about with BIG spanners on the forward ramp

That’s about it really, I could pad it out but now I need to go and do some research into solar hot water systems, baths and tiling. It’s only two days until my ‘rest week’ and I’ve got a bath to fit in it. Anyone else would have it done in a day but me, well I get easily distracted!
