Lister is unwell

Filed under: Uncategorized — lifeattheendoftheroad @ 9:00 pm

Disaster has struck, I awoke this morning and fired up Lister my ‘Fujitsu Siemens, Amilo’ laptop to be greeted by a blue screen and gibberish ( well it was to me ) anyway the long and the short of it is Lister has to go on a holiday to Germany to be fixed. Well that’s what the man said it’s probably Bulgaria where someone without shoes will get paid washers for fixing it! Anyway as the only way I can get on line with my old clockwork IBM at home is by sitting on my bed with the mobile internet dongle hanging out of the window I am in the interests of domestic harmony going to call it a day and will be back as soon as I can sort out a modem that works!

  1. We will miss your Daily Bulletin about Life at the end of Callum’s Road

Hope the people in Bulgaria can fix it for you soon

We are off to Italy on Friday to visit old Italian friends and rekindle our love of The Milky Mountains, the fab scenery, lovely fresh food and unadulterated wine straight from the vine.

We will be thinking of you and your family.

  2. Hello and greetings from California. I recently found your blog and was very happy to read about all of the things going on in your part of the world and especially enjoy the pictures. My wife, youngest son and I visited Raasay a little over 2 years ago as part of a 3 week adventure in Europe (9 days in Scotland) and I became enchanted! As soon as we stepped off of the ferry we looked at each other and almost at the same time said “can we spend an extra day here”. So a fantatic weekend in late June was spent walking and hiking and staring and the beautiful scenery. We stayed at the hotel and enjoyed some good food and company. Raasay has become my “happy place” to think about when the world gets stressful. I look forward to returning, hopefully next spring or summer. Hope your computer gets fixed quickly. I work in Silicon Valley, so if you need any parts…..Cheers! Morgan Will, Santa Clara California

  3. Hi
Do you know the people who own the cottages on Fladda at all?

  5. Hi Chris and Chris enjoy Italy, It’s about time we went back.

Hi Morgan and Will, glad your enjoying my ramblings over in California. Lister is still under warranty and is now on his way to be fixed but I’ll bear your offer in mind for the future 🙂

Hi Julie, I’ve known all the Fladda folk since I moved here in 1989

Hi Newhey, Lister’s on his way to Germany right now thanks. I’m told it’s the graphics card but the CD/DVD drive’s been really noisy for a while and I’ve had 3 coloured tram lines down the screen since last December so in a way I’m glad it’s forced my hand to get it sorted whilst still under gaurantee. Only problem is this old ‘IBM Think Pad’ is really slow and tempremental 😦 It’s taken me an hour just to get on line!

    Paul
