Raasay village hole is starting to look like ‘Raasay village hall’

Been another peach of a day here and I’m starting to get that Friday feeling as I say goodbye to the ‘Loch Striven’ for another week tomorrow. Must be coming up to a full moon as I’ve been a bit more manic than usual rushing round painting everything I can on the ferry before the weather goes pear shaped.

Went along to see the village hall today, well I see it everyday as it’s pretty hard to miss but today I went inside the fence and had a close look and I’m impressed. The last time I went this close it was just a huge hole in the ground.

This was it exactly one year ago and just check out that pile of rock in the background. I dunno how many tons was dug out but it sure was allot!

This was it around 6 weeks later as work was starting.

And this is how it looks today. After checking this out and loading up my trailer with stones for my road I went to have a quick look at Willy’s polytunnel and was well impressed with that also, that’s the frame up solid now and braced with diagonal tensioners, the service pipes are in for water, power and a drain, all the lintels are secured and it really does feel very rigid.

On the way back to the ferry I saw a sparrowhawk and a buzzard, the buzzards are a common sight but I’ve only ever seen 1 or 2 sparrowhawks though my friend actually saw one take a bird off his bird table!  The day finished with the now familiar sunset over Sligachan.
