Just a quick thought Paul I have just done a quick calculation in my head that you have about 75 K/w/h of electricity production per day. The new Tesla sports car has a battery with 52 K/W/h and does over 200 miles. Now you have theoretically 50% more energy than a Tesla most of which you dump into oil heaters so as not to fry you batteries. Have you ever though of converting an old pick up with a good body too electric then dump your extra electricity into the truck batteries instead of the oil heaters. You wouldn't need such a large range as you would only use it for Raasay perhaps 40 miles for pottering about. Your pride and joy would then be used for the longer journeys and what it should have been used for years ago sitting in a garage getting polished and admired. That proven has certainly weaned you off oil for generating electricity perhaps it could wean you off diesel for driving, because reading between the lines I wouldn't like to pay you diesel bill at the end of the month let alone at the end of the road. Please forgive me if I seem impertinent

Deep regards

Re Mr Lister.

This is the first time that I have heard of ritual sacrifice by fire resulting in a resurrection! You can now allow the husk of this once noble machine to return to the ground, clear in the knowledge that its passing was not in vain.

Hi Paul,
I feel exhausted just reading about your day! Glad you've found a more useful water tank and hope the new tup proves himself. I didn't know that sheep were inclined to make for their previous home if not confined!
Cheers, Carolyn.

Good morning Mike,

I'd never thought of the caravan step, I use a fish box upside down instead :-) Many is the time that I've used the 'sh1tpart' Britpart blue box in desperation only to regret it 6 months down the line :-( however sometimes you've just not got the option, like a 110 fuel tank for a 1986 SW, Genuine £400 and on back order, Sh1tpart £80 and here in two days, still with several coats of paint it's still doing the job after 5 years, so they do have their uses occasionally :-)

Cheers, Paul

Just about to post a pic on my blog of a turbine that I have been driving past for a week or so.
I think it is relatively new but it doesn't seem to have lasted a 60mph blow!
Such a shame, as there is plenty of wind down here!

Hi Ruleboy,

I could not agree more, whilst I'm a great fan of wind turbines and Proven ones in particular, the sanity of locating one so close to residential buildings and a primary school in particular does seem a little questionable.

Quite apart from the noise and safety issues relating to the close proximity of trees and buildings as shown here http://windmeasurement.co.uk/wind_shade.html it means that a turbine in such a location is pretty inefficient. I suspect that had the turbine been mounted above the school just by the road the noise would have been considerably less and the power output considerably more.

The fact that my boy was sent home early today and the turbine is now stationary with the blades looking somewhat limp as if the springs have failed does not bode well :-( Having said that the two incidents may not be related and my Proven has withstood 4 winters without fault or complaint but then, it is in an ideal location.

Cheers, Paul
