Life at the end of the road

No wonder he’s up early!

5:00am and that’s me plonking away on the lap top, I really do need to get out more often :-) Our fine young cock has been crowing for over an hour but that’s not what woke me, I am afflicted with not being able to keep still or stay in bed, especially when the weather is good.

On my rounds last night before coming in the house and calling it a week I went and checked the water tanks that supply the house before putting on a hot wash to clean my overalls for work. Both tanks which are 1000lts have around 800 in so it looks like our supply has finally dried up and needs monitoring regularly. So from now on restricted bathing and only flushing the toilet when necessary :-) Well at least until I can steal some water from the south end in my water bowser (fish cage float). I also had a look in on the hens

Late night drinking!

apart from the ‘wee cheeps’.  I don’t think these youngsters ever sleep, they certainly don’t stay with their parents in the hen house and if I open the front door at any time of the morning they come charging accross the garden to be fed.

I wish they made ’safety sandles’

That’s it really, I’m off to work and already I’m cooking, despite wearing very little beneath my boiler suit and the thinnest pair of socks I can find. I’ve been wearing ‘jesus boots’ for a week now and my feet are not taking kindly to being cooped up in safety boots, how I wish they made steel toe cap sandles :-) ARGHHH  I’ve just realised that I only have 5 bananas!!!!!!!!!!! for a 7 day week, this is really going to confuse me when I get to work and hang, them up as it’s how I tell what day it is when I’m on the ferry!

  1. What level of safety do you need for work Paul? There are some safety sandals available here http://www.strauss-direct.co.uk

I’m just back from a mad long-long weekend island hopping from Barra to Stornoway. Sailed on four Cal-Mac ferries and saw five others with and ex ferry as an added bonus too.

I have some pictures of the crew of Clansman doing some painting, so it’s not just you who is always slapping a bit paint on Cal-Mac ironmongery :-)
